Full Job Description

Whipps Cross University Hospital, part of the Barts Health NHS Trust Group is looking for a fixed term Trust Doctor (ST1/2 equivalent). The post is fixed term for 6 months initially from 05 February 2025 until 05 August 2025 but maybe extended subject to availability of vacancies.

The posts offer an exciting opportunity to join a growing team within gastroenterology with a possibility to rotate to other subspecialties dependent on candidate preferences and job availability.

This is a large, friendly District General Hospital, located on the edge of Epping Forest in Leytonstone, which is undergoing a period of regeneration and renewal. We are a centre for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, who attract students from London teaching hospitals as well as overseas, and have an excellent training and work environment with support given to doctors wishing to undertake research or further medical qualifications. We are known for caring for patients with a fascinating spectrum of medical conditions, providing an excellent opportunity to develop clinical skills in preparation for the MRCP examination. Trainees are supported by a very well organised Medical Education Centre.

To care for patients in the ward and arrange the on-going patient care

To attend daily consultant-led ward or board rounds

To be responsible for keeping of medical case-notes, ordering and interpreting investigations, writing electronic summaries and making referrals to other specialties.

To ensure that discharge summaries are written out promptly and accurately.

To interact with members of the multidisciplinary team in the interests of patients

To flexibly support service needs as required

Supervising and performing medical procedures.

Participate in clinical meetings, and governance meetings including M&M and academic sessions., Extensive Research facilities exist at Barts Health NHS Trust and research will be actively encouraged within the Clinical Academic Group and in conjunction with other departments of the hospital and college.
