Full Job Description

We are currently looking to appoint a middle grade / trust doctor to join our team in the department of Breast Surgery at St Bartholomew's Hospital. This post is to commence as soon as possible and will run for a period of 6 months with the opportunity for it to be extended. We will consider applications from candidates who are aiming for a specialist training number who would like more experience at this grade before national applicaton and also from candidates who are approaching / completed specilaist training either in the UK or overseas who wish to have further exposure to complex breast surgical proceedures and treatment planning in a large, busy, tertiary referral centre in the heart of London. Previous experience in breast surgery is required (to include one stop and basic treatment planning).

Barts Breast Unit is a tertiary referral centre for the treatment of breast disease and is part of Barts Health NHS Trust. The unit is located at St Bartholomew's Hospital in the City of London which is a large state of the art cancer and cardiac centre. Outpatient clinics are undertaken in a purpose built unit with adjacent imaging and biopsy facilities. We offer the full range of breast procedures including oncoplastic breast conservation and mastectomy with immediate - and delayed - reconstruction. We are able to offer implant and LD flap reconstruction on site and cross site free-flap reconstruction at the Royal London Hospital.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
both benign and malignant. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work closely with a vibrant and forward looking team to provide day to day care to the diverse population of North Central and East London. There are also exciting opportunities to be involved in several 'patient experience initiatives' and more formal audit and research projects.
There will be ample opportunity to further clinical and operative skills through exposure to a range of cases including complex reconstruction surgery and salvage surgery. There is a broad range of clinics for the post holder to gain exposure from daily one stop clinics, routine follow up and oncoplastic clinics and of particular interest will be our family history clinic which is one of the few remaining such clinics in London.
