York and Scarborough (Integrated Acute and Community) Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has an ambitious programme of service modernisation, Integration and a reputation for providing high quality services. In line with our outlook, we are now inviting applications for posts within Elderly medicine service.
+ Frailty SDEC
The Frailty SDEC will provide specialist care for rapid assessments, diagnostics, treatment, observations and discharge of patients who attend via an emergency pathway. The new 15 space unit, comprises of three same gender bays of five chairs and will accept direct referrals from GPs, YAS and patients triaged from the Emergency Department (ED). A small number of trollies will be available if deemed necessary. The unit will empty and close at midnight. Frailty SDEC medical support will be delivered by one Advanced Clinical Practitioner or Trust Grade doctor (8am - 8pm) and a Consultant Geriatrician in-reach model (predominantly based in the ED). On-Call consultants will provide support after 5pm., The post holder will be a central member of a multidisciplinary team. The post holder will be supported in keeping themselves up to date with current knowledge & practice, expected to attend clinical meetings within the department & to participate in audit & "in-service" training of other healthcare professionals.
There are no on call requirement for these posts.
The post holder will may be required to deputise for absent colleagues from time to time and to perform additional duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.
The post is not a recognised training post, but would be ideal for those wishing to gain further experience in the specialty as the training, supervision and clinical experience will be similar to that of the training grade doctors and tailored to the postholder's previous level of experience.
Candidates must have full GMC Registration, and a familiarity with issues of service organisation and development would be particularly advantageous.

DBS Checks
Please be aware that all new employees starting work with us will be charged for the cost of their DBS check if it is required for the role. The cost will be deducted from your salary either in 1 payment or over a six month period once you start employment. By applying you are agreeing to this undertaking.
