Full Job Description

The successful candidate will be assigned a supervisor from the beginning and will receive training in cardiac imaging, bradycardia pacing and coronary angiography (depending on experience/competence) over a two year period. They will receive full exposure to both elective and non-elective cardiology.

The post holder will be allocated a clinical supervisor and be accountable to Dr Prashant Raju Clinical Director.

Clinical: The Trust Grade Registrar will be responsible, together with the Cardiology Team, for the management of patients admitted to the ward areas. He/she will be expected to attend Consultant ward rounds, case conferences and outpatient clinics and to perform personal ward rounds on the acute patients. The Trust Grade Registrar is responsible for the medical management of the in-patients. The Registrar will have a specific responsibility of managing cardiology patients on the Heart Failure Unit, Oakley ward and CCU.

The Successful applicant will also be involved in a separate cardiology non-resident rota. He/She will also have catheter laboratory responsibilities and will be given training in diagnostic angiography, pacemaker implantation and echocardiography, depending on levelof experience and pre-existing competencies.

Due to one of our registrars been successful in obtaining training posts applications are invited for the position of Trust Grade Registrar to commence as soon as possible. It is essential that applicants have a minimum of 2 years' experience within General Medicine and have obtained full MRCP (including PACES). Previous cardiology experience at registrar level is essential.

Although this position is NOT recognised for Training by the Postgraduate Deanery, successful applicants will be given equivalent training opportunities to Specialty Trainees.
