EMPCC Unit

The opening of this unit provides a new opportunity for patients in Leicester and the east midlands. It is a new unit on the grounds of the Leicester General Hospital. As a purpose-built unit, it has stat of the art new facilities for out-patients, ambulatory gynaecology services (e.g. hysteroscopy, polypectomy, ablation, colposcopy and urogynaecology procedures). It also offers day case surgery for gynaecology alongside other specialities. The Unit will operate for 6 days a week.

In gynaecology, the service will be provided through the recruitment of new Consultants (subject to this advert), Specialist Nurses and rotation of current Consultants. This opportunity for Consultant expansion will enable restructuring of acute and emergency gynaecology cover by current and future Consultants.

It is important to reiterate that, Consultants recruited to enable the workforce expansion are envisaged to be part of the wider team and will be expected to develop areas of expertise within special interest domains in gynaecology., Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).

We have four primary goals:

  • high-quality care for all,

  • being a great place to work,

  • partnerships for impact, and

  • research and education excellence

  • And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.

Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:
  • we are compassionate,

  • we are proud,

  • we are inclusive, and

  • we are one team

  • This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
