Full Job Description
"We are seeking to refresh and strengthen our board, by welcoming new enthusiastic trustees to carry out our vital work." Chair of Trustees Debbie Morton.
This important work is ongoing through the generosity of United Utilities, who donate to the Trust each year, removing the need for trustees to spend time on fundraising.
The Trust receives around £3.5 million per annum and uses the funds to pay water debt, and also to provide white goods and when appropriate, to assist with bankruptcy fees. We have a grants program to fund organisations to provide face-to-face debt advice in local communities.
We are seeking trustees who have experience of assisting people in vulnerable circumstances and familiar with the issues of deprivation in the North West. We welcome all applications, but particularly looking for individuals with experience of debt and money advice, knowledge of charity governance, and those who have a knowledge of, and experience gained, in the water industry. We would also be interested in applications from individuals with a background in finance. We are keen that our trustees should be representative of the North West's communities
We are looking for people who can contribute innovative ideas, in addition to the statutory duties of being a trustee. Most of all we are looking for people with the time to devote to being a responsible trustee, ensuring good governance and capable of overseeing the running of the Trust.
Applicants should live in the United Utilities area. You will need to attend four formal meetings per year in Liverpool and Manchester, or online, in addition to other ad hoc meetings and occasional visits to organisations which the Trust has funded.
Your application should be in the form of a Curriculum Vitae, and a supporting letter stating why you would like to be a trustee of the Trust. You should highlight the specific skills that you will bring which may add value to the work of the Trust.
