Mencap's Internships combines education and work experience to prepare our learners for employment. As a Tutor you will focus on the delivery of the educational element of Supported Internships programmes. You will work closely with a group of Skills Coaches to provide holistic support in finding paid employment.

An exciting full time opportunity has arisen for a passionate and creative Tutor, to join our Mencap Training Academy. This sits within our Lifestyle and Works team, on a full time contract in Barnet, with one day travel per week to Islington. You will have the opportunity to join a friendly and supportive team. You will help young people with a learning disability, learning difficulty and/or autism access the world of work. As a Tutor on Mencap's Internship programme you will teach English and Maths by embedding it into lessons about employability. You will also teach further life skills that will have a direct impact on the way your learners interact with their wider community. Great because we need you., As a Tutor you will deliver elements of teaching, learning and assessment to learners including accredited functional skills in both English and Mathematics. This Tutor role would suit a highly motivated and qualified teacher. Does this sound like you?, Experience of supporting people - Experience of delivering against targets - Experience of working with a diverse group of learners - A-C/9-4 English & Maths GCSE (or equivalent) - Recognised teaching qualification at level 5 (DTLLS, PGCE, CertEd) or working towards - Knowledge and experience of delivering and assessing functional skills English and Maths up to level 2 - Experience & knowledge of safe working practices - Good classroom management skills and strategies - Good time management and planning skills Please see the Job Description for full role requirements.
