Full Job Description

National Grid is looking for a UK Head of Ethics Investigations to join our team on a Full Time, Permanent basis! This is a key role in the Global Ethics team reporting to the Director of Global Ethics. You will be responsible for the management and oversight of the UK Ethics Investigations team at National Grid The successful candidate will be a proactive individual who will be focused on improving existing processes and governance structures. The UK Head of Ethics Investigations will manage a team of investigators, including overseeing their development and training, and resourcing work, while ensuring that cases are investigated accurately and within the timeframe expected.What You'll Do

  • Provide leadership and strategic direction to the UK Ethics Investigations team.
  • Be accountable for the development, maintenance, and implementation of a systematic and structured Investigation Framework to deliver consistent and robust investigations.
  • Be accountable for the day-to-day management of the team and appropriately resourcing a team of professional investigative staff with sufficient knowledge, skills, experience, and professional qualifications to meet the requirements of the function.
  • Lead on the triage of potential allegations together with the Reporting Manager and allocate cases to an investigator based on expertise area and capacity.
  • Ensure that cases are investigated and closed within the service level agreement (SLA) and in line with industry standards.
  • Act as the central point of contact for any investigations allocated to function.
  • Conduct regular review with investigators, together with the Reporting Manager, to understand the status of each case, and flag issues that may cause delays to resolution.
  • Ensure that investigation reports are fully completed in line with procedures and the investigation framework.
  • Review and approve the investigators' reports.
  • Be accountable for the development and training of Investigators to deliver consistent and robust investigations at the highest standard.
  • Help facilitate a "safe-to-say" culture where employees feel comfortable to raise ethics and compliance concerns.
  • Establish and maintain a strong working relationship with other key functions (Legal, HR, etc.) to facilitate investigations.
  • Ensure the Investigation function's practices, procedures and tools are suitably secure with regards to confidentiality, Data Protection (GDPR) and information security standards.

    Professional experience managing ethics and/or compliance preferably in a corporate environment.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, together with relevant professional accreditations in investigations, ethics, or compliance.
  • Demonstrable track record of delivery by carrying out investigations or equivalent experience managing HR investigations as a HR professional.
  • Ability to effectively prioritise and perform tasks while interfacing with multiple stakeholders.
  • Service provider attitude and commitment supporting internal customers.
  • Proficient analytical and agile reasoning skills
  • Interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well with a wide variety of stakeholders and capability to build effective working relationships.
  • Knowledge in planning and organisational skills.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills
  • Credibility and gravitas with the ability to challenge senior people in the organisation as part of investigations.

    A competitive salary of up to £92,000 dependent on capability and experience.
