Full Job Description

This role is based in Infrastructure, Development and Delivery. This department is responsible for the design, development, and delivery of major new infrastructure across nuclear, cables, substations, overhead lines, and visual impact provisions. They're fully accountable for projects agreed through Network Operations Assessments including optioneering and safe delivery of high value, highly complex projects of significant interest to time. The team you would be joining is responsible for various tasks related to project validation and cost management. These tasks include validating actual costs, providing cost assurance, supporting estimating activities, reviewing Early Warning Notices, assisting with Notices of Compensation Events, supporting actual Compensation Events, and maintaining Project Risk Registers. Some of your accountabilities will include:

  • Support tender activities where required, using benchmark data and eHub cost estimates
  • Support audit of Subcontractors works on site against Valuations/Payment Certificates
  • Supporting Invoice reconciliation
  • Providing cost Value Report Appraisal
  • Overseeing the validation of Contractor's forecast
  • Assist in contractual claims, and the Early Warning/Compensation Event process

By the end of your placement, you'll have developed your understanding of our business and the energy sector for your future career.

    You'll need to be in your penultimate year at University, on track to achieve a minimum 2:2 in a Quantity Surveying degree discipline. You'll need to commit to a 12-month Industrial Placement that will begin June 2025 and be eager to apply your knowledge in a real-world setting. You'll need flexibility to travel within role and throughout your placement as required. Due to the amount of travel to our site locations you'll need to have a valid full UK Driving License and access to a vehicle for your time on programme (business insurance will be required).
