We're Hiring! Aon currently have an exciting opportunity to join their London office as an Underwriter supporting Aon's Global Broking Centre (GBC). This position is part of the Aon Underwriting Managers (AUM) business, which undertakes underwriting and claims handling services on behalf of insurers and delivers expertise in specific product ranges or trade sectors. AUM focuses on commercial insurance products across Accident and Health, Property and Casualty, Financial Lines and Marine sectors. About the Role As a team leader, your duties will include:
- Managing a team of five underwriting assistants
- Identifying opportunities for continuous improvements, gaining approval, implementing, and tracking outcomes, for example:
- How the underwriting assistants can better support the underwriters
- How we can better utilise technology to reduce waste
- How we can better utilise MI across the team Supporting the Portfolio Underwriting Manager in managing governance activities across the portfolio Building an excellent working relationship with the AUM, ACT, and GBC Teams Participate in regular insurer meetings to review progress of the facility Building excellent working relationships with supporting insurers Ensuring full compliance with the Delegated Authority from insurers Helping develop training opportunities for the underwriting assistants and wider team Meeting agreed service standard to bind risks and ensure that the relevant policies are accurate and issued within agreed timescales About You Your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
- CII or partially CII qualified would be an advantage.
- Experience with Lean or similar methodologies is an advantage.
- Prior underwriting experience or background in insurance.
- Team player with team-building ability.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Computer literacy including Microsoft Word and Excel.
