BBC Sport is responsible for the coverage of all of the nation's major sporting events, as well as legendary football strands, high profile documentaries and awards ceremonies; from Wimbledon to Match of the Day. We are incredibly proud of our output and the talented staff who create it. We are now looking for a Unit Manager to work with the Editorial Leads & schedulers in Sport Productions and other key stakeholders to manage the staffing of this substantial portfolio of cross-platform output., The Unit Manager role is critical to the future success of BBC Sport. You will be responsible for day-to-day oversight, co-ordination and long-term planning of the staffing & freelance requirements in Sport Productions. This will include forward planning of all recruitment activities, EFT control as well as line management of the Senior Resource Schedulers. You will drive great collaboration with the staff schedulers currently working across other areas of BBC Sport. The Unit Manager will co-ordinate and deliver all schemes, events and outreach activities aimed at strengthening our staff base, improving diversity & inclusion and driving digital growth - working collaboratively with colleagues fulfilling similar roles across the department.
We are looking for someone who is keen to take on a leadership role in planning, organising and overseeing staffing/freelance use across Sport Productions.
- You will have excellent stakeholder management skills and be comfortable working with colleagues at different levels of seniority and in a wide range of roles.
- You will have strong project management experience with the ability to design, organise and lead on initiatives that will drive a business forward.
- You must be adaptable and comfortable in navigating organisational and cultural change.
- You will have a demonstrable working knowledge of end-to-end multi-platform production with a good level of technical understanding.
- You will have an unshakeable belief in the importance of strengthening the diversity of our workforce and making BBC Sport the best possible place to work.
- Experience of supervising or line managing staff with the ability to lead, develop and motivate team members.
- Demonstrable business and finance skills, able to create, forecast and manage resource requirements. This is not an entry level role, we're looking for candidates with experience within the area, please review the criteria for the role before applying.
- Salary: Up to £51,000 - £61,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
