Full Job Description

As Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health Pirbright looks to reinforce and develop methods for batch manufacturing in process and final release control, there is a requirement to support with process improvements. The role sits within the Manufacturing, Science and Technology (MSAT) group and offers an exciting opportunity to work within a GMP operational environment. This role will take an active lead to either develop/optimise existing methods/processes or support site-to-site transfer of an analytical method between our partner site in Lyon, France. Day to day activities will typically include:

  • Protocol and report writing and implementation, to support with method development and validation
  • Experimental design and execution
  • Development of validation studies in collaboration with Biostats team
  • Reporting and sharing of results
  • Data analysis and interpretation for sharing of results to stakeholders
  • Involvement with other site MSAT activities to support the Pirbright site in maintaining supply commitments
  • Use of BIAH quality systems in line with site Change Control process
  • Collaborate with other functions including production, QC, QA, EHS, regulatory affairs, procurement, engineering and maintenance
  • Interaction with partner sites for knowledge transfer and site to site equivalence testing
  • Engagement with local MSAT and other departments through tier meetings and site presentations, This internship will allow the successful candidate to become engaged in a diverse array of projects within a biopharmaceutical operation environment:
  • Exposure to technologies (both process and analytics/analytical) used in large scale biologics manufacturing
  • Hands-on experience in a dynamic and innovative biopharmaceutical environment
  • Exposure to several aspects of vaccine manufacturing, allowing a greater understanding of the biopharmaceutical industry
  • Mentorship from experienced professionals in the field
  • Responsibility for aspects of method development that will contribute to the ongoing success of the Pirbright site as well as the continued global supply of emergency veterinary medicines
  • Work within a highly motivated and technically competent team
  • Exposure to Project Management processes and activities
  • Interfacing with a wide variety of functions including Manufacturing, Quality Assurance & Control, Biostatistics and Global Innovation (R&D)

    Applicants will be studying Biology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry or other Biological Sciences degree.
  • 3 A levels at grade BBC (minimum) with at least one grade coming from a science subject.
  • Applicants must have the ability for independent travel to work and other sites.
  • Applicants must be able to comply with bio-safety regulations that apply to working in a SAPO4 facility.
  • Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
  • Experience of using statistics to evaluate data is desirable
