Unreal Artist (VFX)

As we continue to expand our team, we are seeking a talented Unreal Generalist with a focus on VFX to contribute to our exciting projects. As an Unreal Artist, you will play a crucial role in creating visually stunning visuals to help bring our work to life. You will need to combine technical expertise, artistic creativity, and effective collaboration to contribute to the overall success of our projects.
You will work closely with other departments and will be expected to communicate your progress and any issues to production to help the project run on schedule.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Unreal with a keen eye for detail and the ability to produce effective and visually stunning real-time work. They will also have a track record of success of using Unreal within a VFX environment.
Skillset
· In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with Unreal Engine, including the latest versions and updates
· Be able to create high-quality, real-time visual effects using Unreal Engine, ensuring they align with the project's artistic direction
· Optimise and implement efficient and performant VFX in Unreal within the technical restrictions of the project without compromising visual quality
· Understanding of the engine's interface, Blueprints, and other relevant tools
· Understanding of the technical aspects of shaders and material authoring and the impact on performance
· Ability to create environments by creating new assets and using readymade library assets
· Understanding of Unreal's rendering system to optimise visual quality
· Familiarity with Unreal's Niagara system, and the ability to create complex and dynamic FX using this
· Excellent creative vision, artistic eye, and aesthetic judgment
· Strong understanding of lighting principles and their practical implementation within Unreal
· In-depth knowledge and understanding of VFX production pipelines and workflows
· Stay informed about the latest trends and techniques in real-time VFX, and actively contribute to the studio's innovation and R&D initiatives
· Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to address issues and implement solutions
· Ability to propose creative solutions to enhance visual quality
· Ability to contribute to the visual success of the project
· Demonstrates excellent organisational skills
· Effective time management skills to meet project deadlines
· The ability to identify potential obstacles that might affect timelines and delivery schedules
Requirements
·
o Experience of creating assets in tools such as Maya and Substance that are suitable for Unreal
o Experience in additional tools like Houdini and Nuke
o Understanding of physically based rendering
o Understanding of AOVs, passes, and render management.
o Knowledge of USD workflows and their practical application in visual effects production
o Experience working in Shotgrid

Experience / Qualifications

· Portfolio or reel showcasing a high level of proficiency in Unreal
