Full Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for an Urgent Care Nurse with a primary responsibility for the Haven based at MillView Hospital, Hove.

The Haven provides a safe, calm and therapeutic space which acts as an alternative to the A&E department and avoids long waiting times for the patients we provide a service to. The Haven takes referrals from the Mental Health Liaison Team, Secamb, The Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment team, The Sussex Mental Health Line, our third sector provider Staying well and we also act as an Alternative Designated Place of Safety (ADPOS) for the police to bring people who have been detained under a section 136., The role also includes taking referrals from other professionals for people that are in a mental health crisis or are experiencing a relapse of a previously diagnosed mental health condition. The post holder is required to co-ordinate the shift and triage the referrals coming into the service and establish medical fitness to assess. The post holder will provide mental health assessment, treatment, signposting and onward referral for patients who come to the Haven. The post will also include supporting people who are awaiting bed allocation, to explore any needs that can be addressed at the Haven and if safe to avoid hospitalisation. We are looking for an individual with excellent communication skills, who is able to work autonomously and at pace within a wider multi-disciplinary team. Interest in working age and older people's mental health and willingness to develop your expertise further in this specialty are essential. Experience of working within Mental Health Liaison or a similar
clinical environment would also be an advantage. In return, we can offer you training and development, variety, a rewarding challenge and the opportunity to work within a friendly and supportive Liaison service.

This is a permanent and full-time post (37.5 hours per week), however, alternative working arrangements such as job shares will be considered on an individual basis. The post-holder should be willing to work flexible hours and to work closely with the Mental Health Liaison Team patients as required to support delivery of the 24/7 Urgent Care Pathway for Mental Health. The Liaison team is based at the Royal Sussex County Hospital.

This post offers the Trust's £4,000 Incentive for band 5-7 Nurses & Practitioners, as well as a relocation package up to a maximum of £8,000 (subject to terms and conditions).
