Full Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join the already established Uro-Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist team. Our Nurses are real life health care heroes, and we are seeking compassionate people with experience of working in urology or oncology to join our integrated trust. This opportunity is for Uro-Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist based at Yeovil District Hospital, with one day a week based at St Margaret's Hospice in Yeovil to support patients, relatives and careers with a diagnosis of a urological cancer. We value our Clinical Nurse Specialists highly, so development and training within this role will be offered and prioritised., To provide and maintain a high standard of evidence based, patient centred care for patients with a urological cancer. To demonstrate good interpersonal skills and to develop practical skills required within the speciality, whist reflecting the philosophy of care.To deliver patient care on a daily basis, using the systems in place in the department for a multi-disciplinary approach to patient-centred care delivery, which builds on the philosophy of greater involvement of patients and their relatives/carers by using the Trusts patient and public involvement strategy.

The post holder will utilise skills of clinical expertise, education and management to ensure a seamless service for patients, carers and staff. They will provide advice, support and information from the time of diagnosis and throughout curative, palliative and terminal phases.

To provide effective clinical support and a point of contact, in the absence of the senior members of the team, which empowers staff to deliver patient- centred, evidence based nursing care.

You will require good communication skills, a team work approach and be able provide a high standard of nursing care with the support of your team.
