Full Job Description

The Department of Urology at University College Hospital is looking to recruit a highly motivated and dedicated full time permanent Urology Consultant specializing in robotic prostatectomy. The post holder will be part of the uro-oncology team focused on, but not limited to, performing robotic prostatectomies. The successful candidate will be joining the largest and most prestigious Urological Department in the UK. We are a highly specialist department seeing referrals from across the UK and abroad as well as being a centre for excellence and research.
The department offers comprehensive care for the whole spectrum of Urology services and is split into 6 sub-groups, the teams work together closely along with other services such as gynaecology, women's health, assisted conception unit, oncology and the Uro-radiology.
The subspecialty teams within the Urology Department are:

  • Reconstructive Urology

  • Function Female and Restorative Urology & Neuro-urology

  • Adolescent Urology

  • Stones (including Lithotripsy)

  • Andrology

  • Uro-oncology

  • You will have the opportunity to gain experience in providing pioneering new treatments and play a key role in ensuring excellent care for patients under the care of the department., The post holder will provide a safe and effective service for prostate cancer patients. They will undertake theatre lists, clinics and other clinical activities. The post holder will lead on the management of inpatients and undertake on-call for the department as required., The post holder will have a specialist interest and clinical expertise in the management of prostate cancer and experience in performing robotic prostatectomy.
  • To ensure that services are responsive to the needs of patients and other service users and their families.

  • Where appropriate, to facilitate working arrangements between the subspecialty teams within the service.

  • To meet regularly with key members of the multidisciplinary team and support effective multidisciplinary team working.

  • To work closely with the DCD and management team to respond to and meet external standards relevant to the Service.

  • To support the college tutor and educational supervisor in junior medical staff issues training and performance.

  • To support the DCD, implement and monitor compliance plans to ensure that all junior medical staff within the Service are compliant with legal requirements.

  • To attend meetings as appropriate with the Divisional Clinical Director and management team.

  • In collaboration with the Clinical Lead and management team, to support the local implementation of the Trust objectives within the Division.

  • With the Divisional Clinical Director and management team, to support the service planning process for the Service and to ensure it meets its contractual and other performance requirements, e.g. waiting list targets, winter pressures and Cancer waiting times., Please note that all correspondence regarding your application will be via email.
