Full Job Description

The Jobholder is responsible for the management of a defined caseload.The jobholder carries continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and the setting of standards of care.The jobholder will provide specialist nursing care and advice to patients who require urological Nursing and will contribute to the development of the speciality service.The jobholder will ensure cost effective use of resources

The post holder will work with the Band 7 Benign CNS team leader to develop and support our service for patients who require urological nursing within the Leeds Teaching Hospitals.

The role of the Clinical Nurse Specialist for Urology is autonomous and covers four main areas:caseload management, clinical practice, education and research and will reflect the needs of our patients, urological consultants, senior nursing, medical consultants within associated services, inhouse service developments and national guidelines.

With the appropriate support and training we expect the individual to provide advice, information and support to patients, carers and staff regarding Urological nursing.We expect the individual to provide care for patients in line with Trust and Government strategies and targets.In collaboration with senior medical and nursing staff the post holder will assist in the support of research, audit and quality assurance projects., The successful applicant will require an in depth background, and knowledge of Benign Urology nursing, excellent communication skills, a willingness to develop the service and have the desire to continually improve patient care.

1.Acts in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Code of Conduct.

2. Provide a specialist nursing service for patients with Benign urological disease who require support and treatment through the continuum of care.

3. Work in conjunction with the Benign Team Vision and Purpose.

Urology is mainly based at St James University Hospital and most of our outpatient appointments are held in the Paul Sykes Centre.
