Full Job Description

Croydon University Hospital (CUH) plans to appoint a Clinical Fellow in Urology. This post is a middle-grade fixed term position for an initial period of 12 months. This term can be extended. There is on-call activity at middle-grade level.
The candidate will be expected to integrate within and work alongside the team of existing consultants in the Urology department, as well as work within multidisciplinary teams including healthcare professionals. The candidate will be responsible for the oversight and delivery of day-to-day Urology surgery services. These include daily ward rounds, review of inpatient referrals, outpatient clinics and theatre lists under the supervision of the Urology Surgery consultants.
This post is not an approved postgraduate training programme under the auspices of Health Education England (HEE). However, post-holders can be supported with aspirations for both CESR qualification and FRCS examination on request.

Main duties of the job
The candidate will be responsible for the oversight and delivery of day-to-day Urology services under the supervision of the Urology Surgery consultants. Clinical activities will include daily ward rounds, review of inpatient referrals, outpatient clinics and theatre lists.
There is on-call activity at middle-grade level. The rota is a 1:8 rota with non-resident responsibilities out-of-hours., To provide a robust service and this includes all aspects of treatment and relevant management duties for the proper functioning of the department.
Responsible for covering colleagues' periods of annual leave and short-term sickness.
Clinical supervision of junior medical staff as a shared responsibility with other consultant colleagues.
Responsible for carrying out teaching, examination and accreditation duties as required and contributing to Continuing Medical Education and clinical governance initiatives.
Responsible for out-patient clinic commitments in peripheral hospitals as agreed by Croydon Health Services
To contribute to departmental research interests in accordance with the Trust's R&D framework.
To take an active role in the formulation, implementation and monitoring of the Trusts Objectives. This may include assisting with discussions regarding service plans and developments with both internal and external agencies.
