Full Job Description

As part of the Digital Development team and reporting to Bloomsbury Head of UX, this role contributes to the definition, implementation and delivery of all Bloomsbury Digital Resources across Bloomsbury Academic, Professional and Special Interest divisions. Bloomsbury Digital Resources have already won a number of accolades for the quality of design and usability, often receiving glowing reviews from leading publications and customers. This role will build on that success by ensuring that we continue to deliver engaging, accessible products and an excellent user experience to the students and researchers within our global customer base of academic institutions. The UX designer will help build our evidence-based design practices, enabling short- and long-term innovation in our platform development. The role will collaborate closely with the Product Management and Technology teams. Together they will develop, evaluate, and iterate the user experience. The role

  • Run user experience research and analysis to understand our users' journeys and needs
  • Translate findings into clear and prioritised business requirements in a programme of continuous improvement
  • Produce designs to assist with usability testing, internal discussion, presentations to stakeholders, and delivery, encompassing interface design within a tested and established design language; also basic UX writing, and interaction flows
  • Ensure that platforms comply with accessibility
  • Identify improvements to the team's processes and workflow

    A proactive, "can-do" attitude, with a keen curiosity and willingness to learn
  • An excellent eye for detail and nuance and a logical, problem-solving approach
  • Demonstrated experience of user experience work
  • Cross-functional team collaboration, including stakeholder management
  • Ability to understand the specific needs of a varied user base of students, scholars, librarians and practitioners in visual and applied arts, performing arts, humanities, social sciences, law and finance

    Salary: £35,000 to £40,000 Annually
