Full Job Description

We are looking for additional Healthcare Assistants to join and be part of our busy, focused and friendly Urgent Treatment Centre team.

  • In this Healthcare Assistant position, youll be supporting the Healthcare Team in delivering high quality care to patients with urgent medical needs.

    This position will be a busy one, you will be working in a fast-paced environment, where youll be providing that individual patient cantered care coupled with that efficient and effective service to referring GPs and Paramedics., Through continued successful training, you the Healthcare Assistant will be very knowledgeable and develop further confidence. Youll be providing direct hands-on support and advice in all matters relating to the patient appointments whilst under the monitoring and supervision of the related practitioner in charge.

    You will be learning an assisting in the following;
  • Application of Plaster of Paris, for breakages and fractures

  • Checking and monitoring vital signs, E.C.Gs and other particulars like blood glucose levels

  • You will learn to be to be proficient in applying dressings for varied wounds, fitting splints, walking boots, and slings as well as leaning to remove them, which is equally important


  • In addition, if or once fully trained youll lead in;
  • Selection suitable dressings for the closure of varied wounds

  • Measuring for correct walking aids, explaining and demonstrating how to use them

  • Carrying out safe and effective cannulation of patients

    Health Care Assistants at Practice Plus come from all walks of life, some start with us having no or minimal experience, but are keen to explore a career in healthcare!


  • Youll be supported and trained where necessary, but it will be your responsibility to ensure your mandatory training is up to date.

    Youll be computer literate and an effective communicator, both written and verbal. You'll be adaptable in your approach as you will communicating with a wide range of individuals, from internal colleagues from varied departments to patients, their families and friends.
