Full Job Description

Our Balfour Beatty Highways business has a fantastic opportunity for a Area Utilities Coordinator to be based at our M1/M2 Compound, Rothwell. As an Area Utilities Coordinator, you will provide expert knowledge, management guidance and implementation of safe systems of work for the avoidance of underground and overhead services across our RDP North projects (M1/M62 CSB, A63, A57 & A66). Ensuring that projects are liaising with utility asset owners to plan work activities in vicinity of their assets, and obtaining the correct permissions to undertake work. Balfour Beatty Highways maintain, manage, and operate major highway networks across the UK and support local authorities creating communities where people want to live work and play. We provide high quality asset strategy, management, and planning consultancy services to a wide range of public and private sector customers. We provide specialist, reliable, sustainable, and creative advice for asset management planning and implementation in the UK. We put our customers first and prioritise completing schemes safely, efficiently and to a high standard.What you'll be doing Some other key responsibilities will be:

  • Management of Utility project teams including competence assessments
  • Ensure that the project Utility Coordinators are involved in the development of safe systems of work that are within the vicinity of utilities
  • Provide monthly report relevant to stats diversion status including service strikes, ensuring relevant Utility Provider is notified regarding service strikes
  • Ensuring that the site teams are aware of utility locations, required easement dimensions and exclusion zones and specific Utility Provider's requirements
  • Liaise with utility providers regarding costing/resourcing, and timely completion for diverting existing apparatus
  • Ownership of whole process of production, checking and submission of Handover Documentation
  • Liaise with the National Highways to support and develop good safe efficient practice associated with working in the vicinity of live services

    You will have the following:
  • Experience of management of utilities in a similar role
  • Able to clearly communicate the requirements of a safe system of work
  • Have a broad knowledge of Highways and civil engineering construction processes
  • Must hold SMSTS qualification.
  • Holds relevant CSCS Card.
  • NRSWA Supervisor accredited.
  • Holds valid UK driving licence
