Full Job Description

We are seeking a pioneering UX Designer to lead the introduction of UX and UX ways of working into Ocado Logistics Technology Product (OLTP). This 12 month secondment is designed to showcase how introducing UX into the department can help underpin OLTP's requirement to become more user focused; merging user and business needs. The UX team will consist of one UXD and one UXR.

You will have the opportunity to lead the design of our brand new fleet system which is used to manage our portfolio of over 1,500 vans, trucks and trailers. Alongside this, you will have the opportunity to get involved with designing solutions to better manage re-deliveries, designing a brand new supplier facing portal and getting involved in ad hoc GUI designs too,

  • Develop and implement strategies for establishing and growing UX and UX ways of working within the department, including defining processes, and workflows.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to set up the infrastructure and tools necessary for efficient UX operations.

  • Have a flexible delivery focussed approach and liaise with Head of Product / Group Product Manager to understand and align effort with roadmap objectives/deadlines and UX priorities

  • Works closely with Product teams to validate designs with end users & produce clear UX recommendations that align with stream goals.

  • Contributes to UX deliverables that meet user & product stream missions / objectives.

  • Considers system usability when designing to ensure continuous and commercially sound improvements

  • Analyse quantitative and qualitative data to understand insights into user behaviour

  • Alongside the UXR, use research methods to improve understanding (e.g. surveys) with the support of UX and Product team colleagues

  • Use customer journey flows, empathy maps and personas to understand end to end services, different actors and primary user scenarios & needs

  • Work alongside other UX Designers and Product teams to explore multiple approaches to a problem and embrace iteration to improve designs in line with team deadlines

  • Understand the diversity of users and consider user context in all interaction designs

  • Challenge ideas/problems & validate solutions using data & insights from end users, retailers & stakeholders

  • Consider user & business needs in understanding effectiveness of, and making simple improvements to existing Information Architecture structures

  • Create low fidelity prototypes (paper/basic digital) to translate ideas into interactions and to demonstrate ideas

  • Experience:
  • Proven experience as a UX designer, with a strong portfolio showcasing successful design projects and exposure to collaborating on UX Research projects.

  • Knowledge of working with mixed teams / functional areas, including product management, engineering, UX/UI

  • Proven ability to plan, mange, track and deliver on commitments

  • Intellectual rigour, possesses relevant abilities & is able to pick up new skills quickly

  • Ability to work in a team effectively and / or work autonomously

  • Ability prioritise in a fast-paced environment

  • Exposure to working with design and technology teams

  • Capturing business needs and user requirements to support product realisation
