Full Job Description

Fruugo has a requirement for a temporary UX designer to use your knowledge to implement best practices in UX and UI design to build software products. Working alongside a diverse team of colleagues and stakeholders you will be confident in gathering requirements and providing design solutions to a range of internal and externally facing web applications.

All engineers at Fruugo collaborate to deliver team goals, including deploying and monitoring changes into production. There are numerous opportunities for you to give input, and for you to contribute to both solution design and direction.

This UX Designer role will be a 9-month contract and will report to the head of the team.,

  • You will be responsible for using your knowledge of both UX and UI design to translate high level requirements into interactive flows and functional user centred designs

  • You will work across a range of products with the ability to handle multiple workflows, providing your expertise and insights to develop both existing and new functionality

  • You will determine user needs and their behaviour to develop intuitive solutions

  • You will champion accessibility to improve the experience for all Fruugo.com users

    We are looking for someone who:

  • Is passionate about improving the user experience (UX) and the user interface (UI) for a global audience

  • Has a portfolio that demonstrates a good understanding of usability design and accessibility best practises

  • Can create a range of wireframes, prototypes, production ready designs and design documentation

  • Can collaborate with team members to investigate design approaches, prototype new technology and evaluate technical feasibility

  • Has the ability to understand user needs, behaviours and areas where a system may be improved

  • Has a flexible attitude with the ability to collaborate with other designers, developers and extended team members within the business

  • Is passionate about new technology and the latest trends in both UX and UI

  • Is able to design for a global audience demonstrating knowledge of how culture and language influence design

  • Can demonstrate a good balance of skills between both UX and UI design


  • The skills and knowledge required to be a success in this role are:
  • Proficient using industry standard design software (Adobe CC Suite, Figma, Sketch etc)

  • A degree in graphic design or a user experience related field

  • A working knowledge of web browser constraints across a range of devices

  • Empathetic personality with an open mind willing to accept constructive criticism throughout the design process

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to comfortably present designs both formally and informally

  • Experience designing large scale web applications using methodologies such as Atomic Design

  • Self-motivated, and capable of managing their own workload

  • Demonstrable design skills, exceptional problem solving and a user-centred design approach

  • A good understanding of HTML, CSS and JavaScript and how modern day UI and UX design can be impacted by them is required

  • Experience of both quantitative and qualitative research methods, The position is fully remote, based in the UK, though the ability to travel to Cumbria or Manchester for team meetings would be an advantage.
