Full Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Maintenance Technician (ideally with electrical skill set) to join our Wastewater Treatment Team, to play a vital part in the frontline of our day-to-day maintenance of, and repairs to our wastewater treatment works across the Gloucestershire area of the Cotswolds.

You will ensure all environmental, quality and customer service standards are met, whilst meeting H&S legislation and achieving budgetary targets by utilising your mechanical & electrical knowledge and experience to ensure we remain compliant, reduce pollution and ensure that all our sites remain operational for the benefits of our customers. You will have the scope of opportunity to innovate and introduce solutions, to create continuous improvements into existing processes.

Not one day is the same, but as a great team player you will be ready to take on the challenge with a proactive mindset and make the required improvements to keep the sites running without any interruptions! You will need to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair as appropriate, mechanical plant equipment, alongside supporting operating the plant to ensure our plant operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

You do not need to have a background in the water industry, we welcome applications from candidates outside of the sector, bringing fresh perspectives and ideas.

What you'll be doing as the Mechanical Technician

+ Investigating plant failures and carrying out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process. This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and carrying out repairs during incidents.
+ Carrying out scheduled planned maintenance work on mechanical equipment in compliance with company standards and procedures.
+ Providing technical advice to the wider team, referring to up-to-date technical knowledge, and providing training or support for technical trainees if required.
+ Maintaining technical equipment such as various pumps and associated control gear automatic valves and penstocks, flow, level and pressure measurement, pipework, chemical handling and dosing equipment.

Your Base Location will be Cirencester STW with a Working Pattern of 38 Hours Monday- Friday 07:30 hrs - 15:36 hrs plus the inclusion onto a standby rota for which you will receive additional Payment.

+ You should be a time-served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical systems. With NVQ or C&G level 3 in mechanical engineering with an upskill qualification in mechanical NVQ2/3 is essential.
+ Ideally you will have been upskilled with a mechanical qualification to allow inspecting, maintaining, fault diagnosing, testing, installing, modifying or repairing mechanical plant equipment safely and efficiently.
+ 18TH Edition would be advantageous but not essential.
+ Experience working on large industrial plant equipment including various pumps within the utilities industry would be beneficial.
+ Due to the nature of this role, domestic experienceis not.
+ Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are essential.
+ Participation in a 24/7 out-of-hours standby rota will be required after a suitable period of training and assessment.
+ A Full UK driving licence is essential and all necessary equipment such as vehicles and tools are provided.

+ Must be prepared to be trained in safety procedures.
+ Knowledge and awareness of health and safety standards.

+ Competitive salary up to £39,000 per annum depending on skills and experience.
+ Standby rota payments & Overtime opportunities can increase this earning potential by up to a further £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.
+ 24 days holiday per year increasing to 28 days with the length of service. (Plus bank holidays)
