Full Job Description

As a Registered Health Care Professional working in vaccinations, the post holder will deliver the immunisation programme for women during pregnancy. This is a new service run from Birmingham Women's Hospital and will be delivered across the Birmingham & Solihull area (Good Hope Hospital, Heartlands Hospital, Solihull Hospital, Sandwell General Hospital and Birmingham City Hospital). The post holder must be confident or be able to learn to administer IM injections, recognize anaphylaxis and administer treatment, which is key element of the role. The post holder will also be responsible for the promotion of health education in specific reference to maternal vaccinations.,

  • To deliver high standards of care in partnership with women and their families in a safe and professional environment


  • To be responsible for delivering a safe and effective service for the delivery of maternity vaccinations, working across the 6 sites that make up 3 Trusts (BWC, UHB, SWB)

  • To undertake activities such as clinical assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of care with reference to health education during pregnancy, immunisations and administration of vaccine

  • To supervise and teach junior staff and students, in the absence of senior colleagues (after a period of preceptorship and development)

  • To positively contribute to the achievement of local and Trust-Wide objectives

  • To adhere to Trust policies and procedures
