Full Job Description
Based at the National Hub, you'll report to the PFW National Hub Shift Manager and be responsible for overall management of VCS and gatehouse operation at Coventry Hubs. You'll lead a team of 10 front line employees, who will work in a fast moving environment, ensuring employee targets and objectives are achieved. About the role You will be responsible for controlling all trailer movements at the Hub, leading to successful achievement of clearance of all inbound trailers and ensure all outbound trailers are despatched to time.You'll liaise with other managers across the Shift to ensure an integrated response to operational requirements. You will investigate and analyse any major VCS related incidents or Q of S failures, producing a report, including recommendations, for ensuring a reoccurrence does not happen. You will resolve day-to-day accommodation and equipment issues, for VCS team as well as own contingency plans at work area level and implement as required. You will ensure work area compliance to the health and safety policy (including risk assessment), addressing day-to-day issues, and liaison with union H&S representatives. You will review and discuss the performance of the VCS team on a daily basis, ensuring VCS employees are kept well informed of performance and identify and implement improvement activity as a result. As part of this you will manage the Conduct Code and Attendance Procedure, in respect of VCS team. You will carry out the delivery of weekly Work Time Learning sessions to VCS team in line with the Work Time Learning specification. You will role model business standards on behaviour, adherence to business processes and procedures and ensure consistent application by the VCS team through direction and guidance.
- Knowledge and experience of a National Network, with Hub and Depot working.
- Experience of working in a fast moving operation, with changing and challenging timescales.
- Must be able to work well under pressure, making decisions and dealing with issues as they arise to ensure customers get great service.
- High level of communication skills both written and oral.
- Good standard of basic computer use including excel and word.
- Good data analysis to identify trends in performance and drive improvements.
- Ability to interact with all levels of management and to negotiate and consult with a number of different bodies to achieve end goal.
- Strong influencing skills of staff, union and other stakeholders on site.
- The ability to lead, manage and coach a team.
- C3 Yard knowledge and experience are preferred but not essential.

The hours of attendance for the role are 19:00 - 03:00, Monday to Friday but there is a key requirement to be flexible based on business requirements.
