Full Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join Team Caerphilly and provide support across the wider Green Spaces and Transport Services Team., As an HGV Technician, you'll play a key part in keeping some of the council's biggest specialist fleet brands on the road, responsible for conducting MOT preparations, inspections, maintenance, repair, and servicing of our customers' fleets. And when you join us, you're supported in developing your own career too, surrounded by a team of passionate people driven to keep the councils fleet moving.

You will be required to Inspect and maintain Authority's fleet of vehicles, hired vehicles, plant and equipment; and to undertake all mechanical and electrical repairs to DVSA and manufactures standards in line with Council's policies and the guide to maintaining road worthiness. Repair and maintain the Authority's refuse vehicles, sweepers and gritting vehicles including all mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems, in accordance with the manufactures recommendations. Work to schedule of rates contract times and record all necessary documentation required in line with the Authority's procedures.

Relevant Knowledge of HGV MOT standards.
A Level 3 qualification on the Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales. For example NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Goods maintenance.
A Proven record of working on HGV vehicles, light commercials and working with municipal vehicles.
A Full driving licence for vehicles weighing over 3.5 tonnes (3,500kg), Large Vehicles Category C or C+E, or willing to obtain following appointment within 12 months, Disability Confident

We pay an attractive salary of £26,421 - £28,770 and offer access to training and development opportunities.

This post attracts a Market Supplement of £3,000 per annum, in addition to the annual salary, which will be paid in 12 monthly instalments., We have excellent benefits including the Local Government Pension Scheme and staff discount schemes.
