Full Job Description

Reporting to and working in concert with the MEC Deputy Director, the Venture Builder Manager will be responsible for the implementation and delivery of venture development support for early-stage startups, such as, aspiring entrepreneurs at the ideation phase. The role holder will be responsible for supporting the best early-stage, diverse and committed entrepreneurial talent amongst students, recent graduates and staff (excluding spinouts) from the University of Manchester. The Venture Builder Manager will be responsible for the successful curation, delivery and day-to-day management of an inclusive programme of startup incubation, development and acceleration with clearly defined evaluation processes to objectively review, and to evolve the venture builder programme based on participant feedback. The venture builder programme encourages participants to take entrepreneurial pathways, including the creation of businesses, purposeful ventures and social enterprises. Working collaboratively with the wider MEC team and internal stakeholders, the Venture Builder Manager will be required to develop compelling outreach initiatives to promote the venture builder programme to build a robust pipeline of entrepreneurial talent, which will have the opportunity to compete for £250,000+ of equity-free funding through MEC's flagship competitions and early-stage support funds. Furthermore, the role holder will be required to create new enterprise pathways and develop robust commercial propositions. The Venture Builder Manager will play a fundamental role in the delivery of the MEC Action Plan to support the viability and to drive the growth of early-stage ventures. This is an important and exciting role engaging directly with the University's most promising entrepreneurial talent and ecosystem partners.
