BlackRock's six month programme offers service leavers and professional athletes the opportunity to develop their professional skills, enhance their understanding of asset management and the world of financial services and prepare for future careers in the industry.

BlackRock are offering diverse roles and opportunities across the following divisions:

BlackRock Global Markets

BlackRock Global Markets & Index Investments (BGM) is responsible for managing the firm's market activities in order to provide investment teams with access to markets, financing capacity, and additional sources of return through the following functions:


  • Index Equity

  • Index Fixed Income

  • Global Trading

  • Securities Lending

  • Liquidity

  • ETF Markets

  • Financing & Financial Resource Management

  • Global Markets Relationship Management


  • BGM is focused on advancing our investment processes and platform architecture across these businesses, and ensuring that we engage with other market participants in a collaborative, strategic way.

    Client Business

    Develop strategies to grow the business, research and identify new opportunities and continually improve the client experience. Client Businesses roles include Strategy, Business Management, Relationship Management or Sales within our Institutional, iShares and Retail channels.

    Private Debt

    Over the past 20 years, BlackRock has built a leading private debt platform to help clients achieve a variety of investment goals. We are focused on creating a diversified business that can capitalize on long-term secular trends and deliver the best outcome for clients across risk spectrums and market cycles.

  • Service leaver must have served in the regular armed forces with a minimum of 3 years' service and;

  • Have left regular service within the last 12 months.


  • Professional Athlete Applicants:
  • Elite athletes, who have either represented a professional team for their sport, or who have represented their country at Senior international level.

  • Have left sports within the last 12 months


  • Applicants for this programme should:
  • Be able to evidence/reference an interest in financial markets

  • Be able to demonstrate high levels of self-motivation and team orientation

  • Be a clear and confident communicator

  • Be numerically competent

  • Have a client service orientation

    BlackRock's hybrid work model is designed to enable a culture of collaboration and apprenticeship that enriches the experience of our employees, while supporting flexibility for all. Employees are currently required to work at least 4 days in the office per week, with the flexibility to work from home 1 day a week. Some business groups may require more time in the office due to their roles and responsibilities.
