Full Job Description

  • Accurately process standard requisitions per approved procedures.
  • Remove specimens from transport bags, enter patient, client and specimen data, label specimens and aliquot as needed.
  • Sort specimens for distribution throughout the lab.
  • Ensure Turnaround Times (TATs) are met.
  • Comply with appropriate specimen storage requirements.
  • Maintain inventory of specimens after testing has been completed. Ensure all specimens are accounted for.
  • Retrieve and prepare add-ons and rechecks.
  • Read, understand and follow applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Perform all required quality control per QA guidelines.
  • Comply with laboratory Health and Safety procedures.
  • Maintain clean and organised work area. Restocks supplies as needed.

    This opportunity would be well suited to you if you have previous experience as a Veterinary Lab Assistant (VLA), a Medical Lab Assistant (MLA) or experience working within specimen reception. This is a full time position with varying night shifts between the hours of 10pm - 10am across Monday - Friday with a Saturday rota. You may also work one week of day shift per month, depending on business requirements., Proven laboratory experience ideally within a veterinary or clinical setting
