Full Job Description

Veterinary Receptionist Rushden Vets4Pets This is a full time role working 40 hours per week. Starting Salary: national minimum wage We are looking to fill a position on our three person Reception Team. If you enjoy working within a team, providing great customer service through in person and digital means, we have just the opportunity for you at our Rushden Vets4Pets practice... The skills required and learned for this Reception position can provide an excellent foundation for entering the veterinary profession. We are a daytime general practice surgery, caring for dogs/cats/rabbits/small furries. There is no on call, no weekend working or out of hours requirements. What to expect on Reception: Your focus is to provide an exceptional service to our clients and the best care possible to their pets - providing a link between clients and the clinical team via in person visits, email and phone calls. Your great customer service during a client's pet visit will make sure they feel welcome and supported. At the completion of their visit with their pet, your helpful and efficient manner will ensure they look forward to their next visit. You will be able to efficiently manage in person visits, take payments, answer phone queries, respond to emails and sort future bookings. Coordinating the smooth running of the day-to-day routines of the practice will be done using our electronic booking system, so computer literacy is a must. Cleaning reception as incidents occur along with general mid-day and end of day is expected for pet and team safety. Data Protection awareness is required to comply with company and government security regulations. Our Commitment to Colleague Support: We have a zero tolerance for aggressive/abusive/threatening clients. To encourage good behaviour from clients we have recorded phone lines and CCTV. We have a dedicated lunch break mid-day so all colleagues can relax, have a cuppa and put their feet up.

  • You are friendly and welcoming for the client and their pets when they arrive at the practice, when answering the phones and emails.
  • You are able to provide guidance by keeping yourself fully up-to-speed with the practice services and any additional services available.
  • You are calm, attentive and able to multitask and think on your feet.
  • You will bring enthusiasm and drive to your role: enjoying the challenge of learning new skills, information to best serve clients and their pets.
  • You can have coping skills and or are able to develop your personal mental health awareness so you are resilient in times of stress such as pet euthanasia, upset clients, pet emergencies.
  • You are reliable, have a sense of humour and enjoy working with a team of likeminded pet care colleagues.
  • You will like going out to dinner with our friendly team, having group lunches and mini golf.

Pets just see people. They aren't biased and they don't discriminate. We take our inspiration from pets, and we value and respect difference in all its forms. Our aim is to reflect the diversity of the communities we operate in, and every colleague can help us achieve this. We encourage our people to be themselves so even if your skills and experience don't perfectly align, if you think you can make a unique contribution through your values and behaviours, we want to hear from you!

We offer also such benefits as 20% discount at the Vet Group, Pets at Home and the Groom Room, access to discounts and cashbacks, in-house career development opportunities, pension and holiday allowance.
  • We want our colleagues to be as diverse as our clients. Our teams are inclusive and celebrate difference so if you meet our role requirements, we'd love to hear from you.
