Full Job Description

"I strive to create a workplace that is open, honest and inclusive and I am thrilled to lead a team of wonderful, diverse and exceptional individuals who are all passionate about patient and client care as well as their own personal growth and development." Dan Makin, BVMS CertAVP(SAM), Practice Owner Are you a confident vet looking to join a passionate team where you can learn new skills and really achieve your career goals? Our small animal practice in Poole Holes Bay, is growing fast and with significant plans to expand our premises in 2025, we are looking for an additional veterinary surgeon to join our friendly team. Our practice owner, Dan Makin, is an Advanced Practitioner in small animal medicine, and opened Poole Holes Bay Vets for Pets in 2017. As well as Dan, you will be joining an exceptional team of vets, nurses, student nurses and ANAs, all supported by an equally brilliant and welcoming team of 8 client care advisors and our Practice Manager and Mental Health First Aider. Our days are well structured with an emphasis on your wellbeing and a good practice culture, as well as providing exceptional care to our clients. We have 20-minute consults as standard, blocks of surgery, and make sure that admin time and a 1 hour paid lunch break are also factored into your day. It's important to us to be an inclusive team so we also hold a daily huddle with time to share thoughts and ideas and to reflect on the previous day. The position available is flexible with between 20-40 hours per week. The role will include weekend work (Saturday only) on a 1 in 5 rota. In joining our team and supporting a great community and client base, we are looking for a colleague with solid GP experience, a team player with great communication skills and someone who shares our passion for providing the highest level of veterinary care.

Pets just see people. They aren't biased and they don't discriminate. We take our inspiration from pets, and we value and respect difference in all its forms. Our aim is to reflect the diversity of the communities we operate in, and every colleague can help us achieve this. We encourage our people to be themselves so even if your skills and experience don't perfectly align, if you think you can make a unique contribution through your values and behaviours, we want to hear from you!

  • 6 weeks holiday pro rata
  • Birthday leave
  • Life assurance 4 x annual salary

  • Access to colleague assistance programmes- Retail trust and port of call
  • Exclusive company discounts and rewards - including 20% off at Pets at Home, The Groom Room and Vet Group. We want our colleagues to be as diverse as our clients. Our teams are inclusive and celebrate difference so if you meet our role requirements, we'd love to hear from you.
