Full Job Description

Due to expansion, we are looking for an additional Veterinary Surgeon to join us on a full-time basis. We're located in Charlton, London, which is within walking distance from both North Greenwich underground and Charlton train station. We are also in a prime location for many local bus routes and have plenty of free onsite parking. The practice has recently undergone a refurbishment and extension, and we're delighted with our new space, which incorporates a new look and feel reception area, six consultation rooms, dedicated cat and dog wards, a dual operating theatre, and a back office. Feel free to take a look at our virtual practice tour on Google Maps! Click Here! We're a large, friendly, and supportive team made up of our Vet Partner Sinead, 7 further full time Vets, 8 RVNs, 1 Student Veterinary Nurse, 5 Veterinary Care Assistants and 8 Receptionists. We are proud of the working environment we have cultivated at Vets4Pets Charlton, where all team members are encouraged to learn, grow, and excel. We share our knowledge and expertise with each other during daily rounds, where everyone's input is sought during clinical case discussions. Several Vets in our team are completing certificates, including surgery, ophthalmology, and anaesthesia. Our Head Nurse/Practice Owner, Fabio, has both feline and ECC certificates, whilst another nurse in the team is currently working towards an anaesthesia certificate. We would encourage and support all team members who want to gain further qualifications, whether this be a certificate or other related CPD.

We are looking for an experienced Vet who is confident with routine surgery and medicine, comfortable with some sole charge responsibility, and can use their underpinning knowledge and expertise to make decisions under pressure. Ideally, a leaning towards medicine would be preferred, however, an all-rounder would also be great!

Pets just see people. They aren't biased and they don't discriminate. We take our inspiration from pets, and we value and respect difference in all its forms. Our aim is to reflect the diversity of the communities we operate in, and every colleague can help us achieve this. We encourage our people to be themselves so even if your skills and experience don't perfectly align, if you think you can make a unique contribution through your values and behaviours, we want to hear from you!

The role is full time, working 4 days per week plus a 1 in 6 weekend rota. There is no OOH with this role ensuring a healthy work/life balance. In return, we offer:

  • Salary up to £80k (dependent on experience)
  • Generous CPD allowance or support towards a certificate
  • Enhanced annual leave
  • Enhanced pension contributions
  • 1 in 6 weekend rotas
  • No OOHs
  • Paid memberships (RCVS, BSAVA, VDS)
  • Exclusive company discounts and rewards including with High Street retailers and restaurants
