Full Job Description
Reporting to the Chief Global Head of Rare Diseases, the Vice President,International Market Access is accountable for ensuring our products are properly valued by payers, fairly priced, and broadly accessible to achieve the widest possible access for the rare disease patients we serve.
The Vice President, International Market Access demonstrates strong leadership skills, with the ability to shape product and evidence strategy internationally, communicating compellingly with stakeholders and decision makers both internally and externally. Furthermore, this is a broad enterprise-wide leadership position, working with cross-functional teams on critical interfaces such as the International Leadership Team.
Roles and Responsibilities:
· Core member of the ILT (International Leadership Team)
· Lead the successful end to end Pricing and Reimbursement (P&R) of the Amicus portfolio in all geographies where Amicus currently, or plan to, commercialize our products.
· Utilise deep knowledge of P&R systems in key geographies to ensure that value and outcomes and health technology assessment criteria are integrated into global pipeline planning, clinical development and evidence generation for our Fabry, Pompe and future therapy programs.
· Demonstrate clear accountability for, and understanding of, the revenue implications of all access decisions and propositions, partnering closely with other business leaders
· Specifically partner closely with the PP&A team to ensure the voice of the patient is integrated into access, and the medical affairs team to build clear clinically appropriate propositions
· Accountability and responsibility for launch sequencing, reference price analysis and pricing governance across the portfolio.
· Working cross functionally and across geographies to ensure strategies are integrated and patient access is delivered in line with the Amicus mission.
· Ensure market access and the voice of the payer and paid for patient are integrated into brand planning.
· Lead the International Market Access team to ensure partnership with affiliates to plan and develop pricing and reimbursement strategies to support both reimbursement maintenance and new launches for Fabry, Pompe and future assets.
· Develop and implement new pricing governance methods/processes
· Chair and lead the International Pricing Committee, guiding decisions on pricing for Amicus products.
· Develop strong, innovative evidence and pricing strategies and tactics for our Fabry, Pompe and future assets, to optimize their value to health care systems, interpreting data and evidence to ensure the application leading edge analysis and argumentation to external decision makers about the value of Amicus medicines
· Present pricing strategy and pricing proposals to the Global Pricing Committee, comprising members of the executive committee, which is chaired by the CEO, ensuring we achieve our access goals.
· Accountability for P&R key performance indicators against objectives, reporting to the Chief, Global Head of Rare Disease and the Executive Committee.
· Serve as an active member of the International Leadership Team and Global Brand Steering Team, representing the Market Access perspective for all Amicus products and assets.
· Line manage the International Market Access team taking responsibility for setting objectives, individual performance, personal and professional development and achievement of annual functional goals on time and on budget.
· Work closely with finance to ensure the P&R strategy delivers on long range plans, budget and revenue projections for our Fabry, Pompe and future assets.
· Provide oversight and manage external vendor projects that deliver the functional goals, taking full responsibility for management of the IMAX budget
· Hold full responsibility for shaping the value propositions of our products, guiding teams to ensure strong global value dossiers, world-class HTA submissions and timely responses to payer questions. Critique and enhance Global Value Messages across the portfolio to maximise impact, expertly tailoring value messages for all key geographies and systems.
· Provide P&R insights and analysis to pipeline teams and business development requests to review potential assets and acquisition opportunities.
Educational Requirements
· Degree in bioscience, pharmacy, economics, business or public policy
· Additional Post-graduate qualifications in health related and/or health economics discipline preferred
Professional Work Experience Requirements
Substantial experience in market access either in pharma or biotech involving international leadership in pricing, reimbursement, health economics demonstrating successful reimbursement with health technology assessment agencies.
Experience and Skills
· Deep technical understanding of international pricing and reimbursement policies to ensure successful patient access and maintenance of reimbursement for our current and future portfolio in Fabry and Pompe disease and beyond
· Extensive commercial and market access experience across the biopharmaceutical value chain bringing key strategic influencing and decision-making skills across the product lifecycle - from development to international launch and commercialization
· A seasoned cross functional operator with experience in smaller or mid cap biotechnology or pharma companies, able to develop strategy and implement tactics with a hands-on approach.
· Able to manage complexity and demonstrate clear decision-making and leadership in fast moving business situations
· Deep understanding of development, launch and reimbursement of biotherapeutics and familiarity with the specific aspects of rare disease / orphan medicines
· Track record of successful HTA approvals and price negotiations at greater than a local country level to include major ex US markets (EU and beyond) in rare disease/ orphan medicines
· Strong people management skills, able to motivate, guide and develop a team and work with cross functional colleagues to create partnerships and alliances that deliver our goals.
