Full Job Description

As key member of the Video and Audio Production team, the Video Producer will be a highly proficient camera operator, editor and graphics creator responsible for recording and editing video and audio and creating graphics video and audio content for the British Museum's online platforms (YouTube, Instagram, Facebook etc.), including the British Museum website. You will also create 'in-gallery' content i.e. video and audio displayed for galleries and world leading exhibitions, as well as bespoke videos for the 70,000 members that support the museum. Working with a variety of stakeholders across the Museum you will be creating engaging content that reflects the incredible stories of the collection and work of the Museum staff. This will range from unscripted, story-based vlogs, working with curators to create informative entertaining content (e.g. our series Curator's Corner), object filming, following processes such as conservation work, long and short form social content. Within this role the Video Producer will need to be organised and work to the Head of Video and Audio to devise treatments, schedules and deadlines to help manage multiple projects. The role sits within the larger Communications department. You will be required to provide a showreel to support your application. We advise using YouTube or Vimeo, as files cannot be attached to your application. Your showreel can be any length, but must include text specifying what you did in each clip e.g. camera operation, editing, grading, graphics, directing etc. It is crucial that you present graphics you have made.   • Camera operation:
  • o Creating high quality footage of interviews, galleries, as well as objects made from a variety of materials and time periods to engage an international audience in the work of the Museum. o Prioritising the safety and security of objects from the Museum collection while still producing high quality footage of those objects.
  • Graphics & Editing:
  • o Using Adobe Creative Suite and After Effects to a high standard, to create high quality bespoke graphics to help illustrate the stories of the museum and add value to the edits. o Editing content about the work and collection of the Museum to a professional standard that is accessible to non-specialists to engage an international audience in the work of the Museum. o Producing content in a timely manner for release in line with our temporary exhibitions schedule and key marketing messages.
  • Content development:
  • o Creating new formats and approaches to showcasing the work of the Museum
  • Working with various stakeholders to develop online video and audio content in a variety of formats and to suggest ways to improve on the technical quality of the Museums live and pre-recorded content.

    Significant demonstrated experience of creating video content, specifically the camera operating, lighting and editing of that content.
  • Significant experience of team based production work and working to specific content briefs.
  • Highly proficient in camera operating and lighting
  • Highly proficient in Adobe Premiere and Adobe Photoshop
  • Highly proficient creating graphics using the Adobe Creative Suite and After Effects in particular
  • Experience of recording clean, quality audio
  • Experience of producing content and formats to suit a variety of social media and mobile content channels
  • Excellent communication both written and verbal.
  • The ability to manage and develop good relationships with external clients/customers
