Full Job Description

Neway is looking for a Virtual School Education Co-ordinator to join our client based with Bath and North East Somerset Council., This role is starting asap, working 22.2 hours a week in an ongoing contract.

Cover education co-ordinator role for the Virtual School. 0.6fte, can be flexible around working hours and can be hybrid working.

Duties Include:

a) Work directly with schools/ settings, designated teachers, parents and carers and other personnel within the council to drive up standards of education and attainment for children and young people in care.

b) To 'know' on an individual basis, all children and young people in care that would be on the Virtual School roll.

c) To work with schools, academies and other education providers to ensure additional resources for children in care are used effectively and efficiently in line with the departmental priorities and performance indicators.

d) Work with schools to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the use of the Pupil Premium for those children and young people in the care of the Council

e) Ensure the Pupil Premium is allocated and that schools are held to account for the impact of the additional funding for children in care of the local authority.

f) Monitor the progress of children and young people in care in schools and settings, and scrutinise the quality of Personal Education Plans (PEPs)

g) Ensure that the local authority considers an appeal against a school exclusion of any child in the care of the council and support the social workers through this process and, when exclusion takes place, to ensure a prompt alternative placement.
