Full Job Description

We are currently looking for a motivated Aerodynamicist to be responsible for the generation of new aerodynamic concepts and designs for the race car, as well as efficient testing and analysis of those concepts. It is essential to ensure that the aerodynamic specification of the race car is constantly evolving to improve its performance. In this role you will have overall charge of the full development cycle of aerodynamic components, including concept, testing, analysis, and reporting, and help develop innovative aerodynamic processes, tools, and ways of thinking to push the boundaries of aerodynamic design and performance. RESPONSIBILITIESAreas that play to your strengths All the responsibilities we'll trust you with:

  • Create new geometries using CAD;
  • Submit geometries to test in both WT and CFD and manage the process; Analyse results from CFD and wind tunnel and recommend track test of performant geometries; Define, specify and manage effective and efficient wind tunnel tests; Conduct wind tunnel testing (some shift work will be required).
  • Suggest, investigate, (and where applicable) implement new methods and processes to improve efficiency of aerodynamic ideas generation, design, testing, analysis and reporting;
  • Provide flexible attendance and attitude to work, both in line with the requirements of the role and any specific requirements of the projects; To work in a professional manner at all times regardless of the task set and be pro-active in promoting a positive image for the department / team/ sponsors. Maintain and develop good relationships with aero performance group, aerodynamics development group leaders and senior aero management; Communicate effectively with other groups such as model design, model shop, aero technology group, CFD methodology group, aero production and wind tunnel systems group.

    Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role:
  • At least two years' experience in high level motorsport aerodynamics development.
  • Strong, broad understanding of aerodynamics to degree level or above.
  • A strong technical understanding of CFD and wind tunnel test techniques.
  • Experience of running WT testing programs.
  • Good CAD skills.
  • Initiative and Innovation.
  • Team-player attitude and the ability to work under pressure and with minimal supervision.
  • The capacity to lead a project, solve complex problems and achieve performance targets within strict deadlines.
  • Travel 0-10%
