Full Job Description

We are currently looking for a motivated Deputy Team Leader Aerodynamics Development. In this strategic role you will be responsible for driving the aero development of assigned car parts forward, pursuing current directions and investigating new concepts.
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with Leadership and the Aero Development Group to construct a mutually agreed and communicated Aerodynamic Development Plan for the Group to achieve performance targets given by Aero Leadership.

  • Under the direction of the Aerodynamics Team Leader, Lead and manage the technical work within the Aero Development Group to ensure a highly competitive Aerodynamic Package for our Formula One cars to agreed deadlines.
    Personally contribute to Aerodynamic Development work within the group and cross-group.
    Personal analyses and surfacing of own ideas.
    Liaise with Design Office and other key stakeholders to ensure Aerodynamic designs are pragmatically and performantly realisable on the car.
  • Communicate key findings, opportunities and threats to key stakeholders within Aero Development and Tools and other key areas of the Company.

  • Promote an ambitious; positive; respectful, logical and collegiate approach to Aero Development within a clear strategic framework.
    Provide mentorship and guidance to Group members in order to achieve personal and performance targets.
    Provide flexible attendance and attitude to work, both in line with the requirements of the role and any specific requirements of projects. This will include weekend work and occasional overseas travel.

  • Phd or Master degree with a specialisation in fluid dynamics and/or numerical methods.

  • Extensive experience in aerodynamics, particularly in the context of Formula 1.

  • Familiar in utilizing CFD codes and Linux system.

  • Experience in using OpenFoam, ANSA and NX would be considered as a plus.

  • Experience developing in C++, Python and bash.

  • Strong ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies.

  • Remarkable attitude in problem solving and attention to details.

  • Self-motivated and with a flexible approach to working hours.

  • Ability to scope all tasks thoroughly.

  • Delivers timely information and reporting (delivering to deadlines set on the job list and keeping on top of communication).
