Full Job Description

We are excited to offer an opportunity for a Visitor Assistant to join our reception team. In this role, you will be the welcoming face of the council, engaging with guests, visitors, and staff in a professional and friendly manner. The role includes working the reception area of the Town Hall, providing a warm and professional welcome to all visitors, proactively assist and signpost residents to the appropriate services maintaining a high standard of customer service in all interactions. Also, welcoming attendees for events such as weddings and citizenship ceremonies. We are looking for someone who is passionate about providing excellent customer service, enjoys interacting with people from diverse backgrounds, has a positive attitude and commitment to enhancing the visitor experience, who is flexible and adaptable. This position includes some weekend work to cover events and ceremonies, a rota is provided to ensure clarity of working days.   • Warmly welcome all visitors to the Town Hall.
  • Notify staff promptly when their visitors arrive.
  • Oversee and manage the Town Hall mailbox, ensuring all correspondence is handled efficiently.
  • Provide residents with accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Direct residents to appropriate services or departments with a solution-focused approach.
  • Assist in the planning of Town Hall events such as Wedding and Winter Fair.
  • Manage the lost and found, ensuring items are documented and handled properly.


  • English and Math Qualification
