Our Heritage Visitor Centre is nestled in the beautiful Derwent Valley and such a beautiful location to work from.

This position is for fixed term maternity cover, and provides a role where you can apply your experience in a new environment and broaden your skills in a friendly and collaborative team playing a key part in supporting the great work of our Charity. Our Visitor Centre Manager will run our successful Land of Oak & Iron Heritage Visitor Centre in Winlaton Mill near Gateshead. This opportunity is fixed term maternity cover position. Our Visitor Centre is an incredibly popular hub for local people and tourists alike. It is also home to our busy Café, specialising in good quality local produce, and a gift shop which showcases local craftspeople from in, and around, the Land of Oak & Iron.

The Visitor Centre Manager has overall responsibility for the daily management of our Heritage Visitor Centre and Cafe leading our team of staff and volunteers to ensure a high quality, professional and profitable business, catering, room hire and an events service.

We are ideally seeking someone who has experience of working in a similar role managing a successful visitor centre including provision of catering, hospitality, events, and resource management. You will be customer focussed and passionate about the importance of excellent customer service as well as being a great people manager with the ability to lead and motivate a successful team.
