Full Job Description

Our Visitor Fundraising team is responsible for providing a friendly and tailored welcome to our diverse museum audiences and raising vital income by asking for voluntary donations. To support this work and lead a new team of Visitor Fundraisers, we are now recruiting a Visitor Fundraising Team Leader to join us at NSMM on a full-time permanent basis, starting in October 2024., As Visitor Fundraising Team Leader, you will be responsible for all aspects of leading and motivating a team of Visitor Fundraisers. You will lead by example to ensure that the team deliver against the highest standards of visitor welcome and fundraising by actively promoting the Museum's charitable status, upselling our commercial activities and ensuring that we meet our fundraising goals each quarter.

This role sits jointly within the NSMM Operations and the SMG Fundraising and Partnerships teams. As a specialist role, you will work collaboratively with your equivalent colleagues on other Science Museum Group sites to maintain similar standards of visitor fundraising across the group. Onsite, you will work in partnership with the Visitor Experience team to ensure a cohesive visitor journey., Working with a world-leading museum group that offers access to truly unique environments and collections, you'll benefit from the perks listed below, as well as full support for life events such as parental and adoption leave, sickness, and career breaks.

    Do you have experience of customer service and working to targets, with an ability to develop people and teams? Are you interested in working in one of Bradford's key visitor attractions?, You will have good communication skills and an understanding how to motivate and develop people and teams. As a Team Leader for a team who work to targets, experience in this will be helpful, along with experience of working within a customer-facing role. You will be flexible and adaptable, able to problem-solve and, with support and training, be able to deal with difficult situations as they arise. You will work well within diverse teams and will be able to build effective working relationships.

    The National Science and Media Museum (NSMM) will be reopening in January 2025 as Bradford becomes UK City of Culture 2025. The museum temporarily closed in June 2023 to undergo a once-in-a-generation transformation with huge changes through a £6 million capital project called 'Sound and Vision', including two new permanent galleries, a new passenger lift and improvements to the main entrance, thanks to support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
