VOG1004 Personal Assistant

To support me out in the community, encourage my independence and living skills. Also to ensure I am safe whilst exploring., This will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period of six months will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid 4weekly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay. This post is subject to an enhanced police check (DBS) and training may be required if identified by the employer.

I am a 5 year old boy with Down's Syndrome, a hearing impairment and some mobility issues. I live in Barry with my family. I am a happy child who enjoys soft play, swimming and rough-housing with my brother. I enjoy songs and singing nursery rhymes but apart from that I am non-verbal and use Makaton to communicate. I have reduced hearing and still wear nappies.

I have no sense of danger and am known to put things like stones and soil in my mouth. I don't eat them, I just like to try the texture and taste of it so need to be discouraged from doing this. I can walk short distances but prefer having a hand to hold or I will bum-shuffle along., · Patient, kind and friendly

3 hours per weekend, on a Saturday between 9.30am and 12.30pm

RATE OF PAY

£14.00 per hour and 0.40p a mile.
