Full Job Description

We are seeking an experienced volunteer to join our team as a Public Relations Lead, working 3-5 hours per week to enhance the visibility and awareness of our charity among the public.

What will you be doing?

You will work with the charity Director and Board of Trustees. This is a new role and offers flexibility and the opportunity to shape its parameters according to your skills and ideas.

It is the perfect opportunity for a volunteer who is enthusiastic and enjoys creating media opportunities.,

  • Media Relations: Identify, develop and maintain relationships with press and media to increase coverage of Regain's activities and events.

  • PR Strategy: Collaborate with the team to develop and implement a PR strategy for Regain.

  • Content Creation: Craft, edit, and distribute press releases, securing coverage to enhance Regain's visibility.

  • Event Promotion: Lead the promotion of our annual Charity Gala Dinner in November and future fundraising events, ensuring widespread media and press coverage.

  • Short-term: Promote our Charity Gala Dinner (Hosted in November 2024), achieving wider media coverage and awareness.

  • Long-term: Establish strong relationships with media representatives and develop ongoing PR initiatives to increase our reach.

  • You will play a crucial part in our development and growth. Your expertise will be vital in increasing our visibility and awareness, ensuring we can continue and expand our support for those in need.

    Your efforts will help expand services, enhance accessibility and create a lasting impact for generations to come.

  • Copywriting / Journalism

  • Public relations, At least 3 years of experience in public relations, with a proven track record in preparing press releases and securing media coverage, liaising with journalists etc.

  • Superb written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate our mission effectively.

  • Previous successes in securing media coverage and/or the publication of op-eds.


  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Existing relationships with journalists and media contacts.

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.

  • Passion for and commitment to the cause, with a connection to disability issues.

  • Team player and adaptability to the resource constraints of a small organisation.
