Full Job Description

Are you passionate about volunteering? Come and join us as a Volunteer Coordinator. This post-holder would work to coordinate the involvement of volunteers from across the trust and its charity partners through effectively managing the recruitment and training of volunteers and fulfilling placement requirements. You may be required to support and occasionally deputise for the Voluntary Services Manager. Key to this role is ensuring that volunteers are inducted and welcomed into the trust in a consistent and safe manner and once placed are well supported in post to deliver effective and impactful roles that enhance patient experience across the trust and hold responsibility for the day-to-day:

  • Recruitment, selection & pre-screening of volunteers
  • Allocation of placements/roles & fulfilling rota requirements
  • Induction, welcome & training process for volunteers.
  • The welfare of new and existing volunteers and resolution of concerns,
  • Support the inclusion, recognition & retention of volunteers
  • The maintenance & oversight of the volunteer database
  • Contribution to the continued promotion of volunteering, and development of processes, policies & systems to effectively manage & support the volunteer base in conjunction with the VSM, Ensuring that all activity related to the onboarding of volunteers is aligned with local & national standards of best practice in the recruitment of volunteers
  • - Fulfilling vacancy requirements for a broad spectrum of departmental or service needs through effective use of the volunteer management and recruitment platforms - Ensure volunteers can access and benefit from a range of relevant support and effective training upon starting - Work with the Voluntary Services Manager and across the team to ensure the welfare of volunteers, resolving concerns or safeguarding issues ensuring they are dealt with appropriately and in line with UHS policy - Manage the inclusion & retention of volunteers through regular communication with & recognition of their involvement at all stages of their journey across the trust and its charity partners - Maintain the accuracy of the volunteer database and electronic records to ensure the volunteer workforce is fully documented and monitored within local requirements - Working with the VSM and/or service leads to actively plan and deliver recruitment &/or promotional activities to champion volunteering, and support new & existing role development in response to the need, Equality remains at the centre of our policymaking, service delivery, and employment practice, giving all employees equal opportunity to develop, apply for promotions, and have working arrangements that enable them to achieve a manageable work-life balance.
