Full Job Description

  • Develop, implement, and manage a robust AML, Sanctions compliance program for the acquired entities tailored to the needs of the organization.
  • Ensure programs are in alignment with local and international regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Ensure all regulated entities comply with various laws, regulations, and guidelines (i.e. AML, Sanctions, Safeguarding, Consumer Duties, etc.)
  • Oversee the preparation, review, and timely submission of all required regulatory reports (i.e. Suspicious Activity Reporting, and other mandated filings)
  • Act as the primary liaison with regulatory authorities, internal audit, monitoring, and testing, etc.
  • Work closely with Global AML and Sanctions team and ensure timely escalations of issues.
  • Manage the risk assessment across different regulated entities.
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate identified risks effectively.
  • Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing team of various compliance professionals.
  • Foster a culture of compliance, integrity and ethical behaviour within the team and across the organization.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including various business units, Legal, IT, to ensure coordinated approach across the organization.
  • Regularly review and enhance compliance program to address new and emerging risks.
  • Develop and maintain Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) tailored to each regulated entity.
  • Attend board meetings to provide comprehensive updates on the status and effectiveness of AML and sanctions compliance programs for each regulated entity.
  • Keep the board informed of relevant regulatory developments, changes in laws, and potential impacts on the organization, ensuring board is aware of compliance risks and necessary actions to maintain regulatory adherence.
  • Work closely with global compliance teams to ensure consistent implementation of AML and sanctions policies and procedures across all jurisdictions.
  • + Facilitate regular communication and collaboration among regional compliance officers to share best practices, address common challenges, and ensure a unified approach to compliance. + Coordinate global compliance initiatives, ensuring that regional efforts align with the overall compliance strategy and objectives of the organization.

  • Qualifications Ideal Background
  • 20+ years of experience as a Chief Compliance Officer [MJ2] within the Banking or Payments industry, including Correspondent Banking, Fintechs, Foreign Exchange, and multiple jurisdictions is desirable.
  • Experience with company M&A activity from a compliance perspective.
  • Extensive knowledge of global financial regulations, AML/CFT requirements and compliance practices, with the ability to make decisions independently.
  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role managing AML and Sanctions compliance programs.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills with a focus on compliance and risk management.
  • Agility to thrive in a fast-paced dynamic regulatory environment.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing and engaging stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to work across different time zones to ensure effective compliance oversight and coordination.
  • Experience of working within a highly regulated environment is required.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) or equivalent preferred.
