The VTE nurse specialist is a vital member of the standards and practice team who will be pivotal to the compliance and improvement of the VTE agenda here at Medway.
supported by the head of nursing for standards and practice, you will be a key team player for clinicians and staff to support VTE best practice and to lead VTE investigations.
As a confident communicator, lead an agenda using the PSIRF framework to improve safe, effective and quality care to every patient at Medway.

This includes the promotion of flexible working opportunities across the Trust., To act as a point of reference regarding VTE advice for all nursing, pharmacy and medical staff within the hospital
Ensure documentation (e.g. VTE risk assessment) is completed in an accurate and timely fashion meeting local, national and legal requirements.
To provide clinical advice, supported by the Consultant Haematologist, concerning VTE prevention and treatment, particularly including VTE Risk Assessment and the selection of suitable thromboprophylaxis in complex case
Undertake a review of all VTE prevention measures currently in place (including compression stockings and mechanical compression devices) to ensure that they are compliant with best practice.
Ensure that hospital associated VTE events are appropriately reported and investigated and feeding back to relevant internal and external agencies as required.
Attend as a member the Blood Transfusion and Thrombosis Committee providing a report on VTE risk assessment compliance, audit results, and lessons identified from HAT investigation.
