Full Job Description

Are you an experienced midwife with a passion for improving outcomes for some of the most vulnerable families in our care? We are looking for an exceptional midwife with experience of leading a team or the potential to develop this skill. You will be a compassionate and confident professional with experience of safeguarding and an excellent awareness of the need for sensitive communication with service users and other key agencies.

As team leader, you will liaise with other clinical areas and specialisms within our unit and be a confident advocate for service users. You will act as a source of expertise to staff within the maternity unit and support your team members and the wider multi-disciplinary team in order to ensure safety and provide an excellent standard of care., This is a key organisation-wide role in developing and maintaining high standards of care for vulnerable women with complex needs in pregnancy and their families. You should have a high level of relevant expert knowledge and skills, which you will use to manage, develop and lead care for pregnant women with complex vulnerabilities in partnership with the wider safeguarding team.

You will be responsible for providing extra support and co-ordinating care plans for high risk pregnant women with complex social needs including mental health, young mums, substance misuse and domestic abuse, in partnership with their own named midwife.

You will provide a link between maternity and other services involved in a woman with complex social needs, such as local primary care services including GP's and health visitors, perinatal mental health services, drug and alcohol services, local authority adult and children's social care and the police. You will ensure that relevant pathways, policies and processes for women with complex social issues are developed, implemented and audited. This will involve working with a range of relevant professionals, services and agencies.
