About the job
We are recruiting part time Waking Nights Childcare Officers for Residential Childrens Home. The teamwork from a strengths-based approach to meet the needs of the children.

Working in line with our statement of purpose, you will take responsibility for the smooth and safe running of the establishment, ensuring that young people receive a sensitive service best meeting their social, racial, psychological, educational, cultural, physical identity and health care needs.

You will be assuming key worker responsibilities by implementing, monitoring and recording individual personal plans in consultation with your supervisor and other members of the team. You will participate in regular, planned and specific pieces of work to meet a young persons identified needs. By creating and maintaining good relationships with young people, you will ensure they are fully involved in decision making that affect their lives and achieving self-advocacy and independence by developing their potential to learn and achieve.

What We Are Looking For From You
The successful candidates will be part of a vital team providing a comprehensive service to young people between the ages of 11 -17 inclusive, ensuring the physical, social, and emotional care and development of the young people.

You will be awake on duty at all times throughout the night to monitor and to respond to young people's individual needs and the requirements/instruction of on-call Managers., This post is subject to Disclosure and Barring Service Enhanced checks.

You will have proven experience of working with young people in a residential childcare setting, as well as the ability to complete the Social Care Wales Induction Framework within 6 months of appointment, and all mandatory qualifications within 3 years. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are needed for this role, as well as a caring and friendly disposition to meet the needs of the young people.

You will understand the importance and your responsibility of the safeguarding and protection of children, and how to appropriately escalate concerns if they are raised.
