Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to support the Medical Same Day Emergency Care Unit and Discharge Lounge at the Royal Oldham Hospital. The post holder will provide a wide range of administrative and clerical duties to the ward / unit staff. They will be responsible for the safe keeping and availability of all clinical records relating to patients and the smooth running of the ward / department office. They will also provide general assistance to the ward / unit staff. The role may require working a mixture of long days and short days.

  • General clerical duties, as required, within the department.
  • Tracking of patients journey through the Unit
  • Ensure patient case notes are available, maintained and up to date.
  • Data input on the Patient Administration System (PAS), Symphony and any other relevant Trust systems
  • Respond to telephone enquiries from hospital staff and patients efficiently and conscientiously.
  • Provide general non-clinical support to the multi-disciplinary team working on both Medical Same Day Emergency Care and Discharge Lounge.
  • Provide general non-clinical support to patients, clients, relatives and carers.
  • Deliver and collect patient's case notes, and if applicable x-ray's, and investigations results from various locations throughout the hospital
  • Track patients notes to the appropriates areas once discahrged
  • Accurately file reports, notes and results efficiently.
  • Participate in any new directions, which ensure smooth running of the service.
  • The post holder will show initiative and carry out their duties safely and competently and where necessary, train new staff.
  • Attend and participate in regular staff meetings.
