An exciting opportunity has arisen to work on the Acute Stroke Unit as a ward clerk. The unit is a 24 bedded unit that admits acute stroke patient direct to the ward. The post holder will work jointly with another ward clerk and will provide clerical and administrative support to nursing and medical staff in the ward area. They will ensure the efficient management of patients medical records and deal with telephone calls, dealing with any queries where possible. The job is for 30 hours working both early and late shifts and may cover some weekends., Assist in the reception of patients and relatives to the un Clerical duties associated with the admission, transfer and discharge of patients. Enter patient information on a computerised system and obtain relevant electronic wristband and patient identification labels Communicate with patients, visitors and colleagues by telephone, face-to-face or in writing, in furtherance of the effective running of the unit. Ensure case notes are efficiently maintained, including filing episodic clinical and nursing notes, filing investigation reports and then send for coding. Work closely with the ward coordinator and assist in booking of scans both inpatient and outpatient. Also including making follow-up appointments for patients when necessary. Communicate and consult with other departments, internal and external to the Trust e.g., Patient Services, Community Matrons, Social Workers, and Ambulance service. Collect and distribute mail for patients and staff. General office duties e.g., filing photocopying, use of facsimile and errands
- Some clerical experience
